The Irish audience is excited as expected. After all, Nicky Byrne, Jennifer Gibney, and Daniel O’Donnell had competed in Strictly Come Dancing within the past few years, and it is only natural that the Irish television is finally set to get its version of the show.
Larry Bass, the producer from Shinawil Productions, the group behind the new show, told Ray D’Arcy on RTE Radio 1 that it is only in Britain that the show is called Strictly Come Dancing and that it is a show about which BBC was very protective, considering its format and success.
It took considerable effort for RTE to bag it, though Bass said that Irish television has been producing world class shows within a limited budget for years. However this is not completely new at RTE, considering they had The Late Late Show, which was a dance show for charity.
