Clash of Clans is a freemium strategy, building game that has been developed by Supercell. It was released for the platform of iOS in August 2012 and for Android in October 2013. Clash of Clans is one of the most popular mobile video game with millions of players all across the world.

The latest reports pertaining to the game that Finnish company Supercell, the developer of the game might be bought by Tencent. Tencent is one of the internet giants in China and reports state that the company is nearing a deal to buy Supercell.

Supercell is reportedly on the verge of signing a $9 billion deal with Tencent. The market value of Tencent stands at $211 billion and a number of messaging services in China are controlled by this tech giant, one of them being WeChat. Several multilayer games are also owned by this company and these games are hosted through the company’s QQ portal.

70 percent of Supercell is reportedly owned by a company by the name of Softbank. If indeed Tencent buys Supercell, that stake will be taken over by the company. However, the founders of the Supercell will not be asked to leave the company after it is bought by Tencent. They will remain a part of Supercell and hold their respective positions.

As per reports, a total of 26 gaming companies outside of China are funded by Tencent. Most of these companies are based in either US or Europe. League of Legends, which is one of the highest grossing games on PC is virtually under Tencent’s control too. The publisher of the game- Riot Games was completely acquired by Tencent in 2015.

Apparently, the company is trying to build a video game portfolio that other company would be envious of and thus it has currently set its eyes upon Supercell, a company which has immensely popular games like Clash of Clans, Boom Beach and Clash Royale under their belt.

Just in the recent past, a new update was rolled out for Clash of Clans by Supercell. It incorporated a brand new feature in the game called the “friendly challenge”. This feature allows players to challenge their clan mates to beat their base.

However, accepting the challenge and attacking the base won’t result in the attacking player losing his army, his spells or his clan castle troops. Everything will remain intact which makes this feature especially entertaining. The defending player will not be losing any resources during the attack.

This feature has been welcomed with open arms by Clash of Clans players. This has allowed them to have friendly battles with their clan mates which is entertaining. It has also allowed them to practice their attacks and hone their skills.

That apart, some new troops and spells were also brought forth by the new update. Firstly, players were greeted with two new troops, they being the Baby Dragon and the Miner. Both of these troops are found in Clash Royale and fans have been requesting Supercell for some time to incorporate them in Clash of Clans.

The Baby Dragon is unlockable in Town Hall level 9 and the Miner can be unlocked in Town Hall level 10. Alongside the new troops, two new spells were also included in the update and they are the Skeleton spell and the Clone Spell.

The Skeleton Spell is unlockable at Town Hall 9 and it can be used to spawn a bunch of skeletons anywhere in an opponent’s base. As for the Clone spell, it is unlockable at Town Hall 10 and it will allow players to create clones of their armies. However, the number of army to be spawned will depend on the maximum housing space for the troops.
