OnePlus is a Chinese start-up company that should be considered as one of the biggest winning companies of last year. Its pioneer device, ‘the flagship killer’ OnePlus One was a high-end device that was ridiculously priced and managed to pique the interest of a lot of Android fans. Sadly, the company lacked any experience of actually managing to sell the smartphone.
By the end of 2014, the company reported a million sales but it was still amazingly far from what it could have accomplished. However, the good thing about the phone industry is that there are second chances to be offered. As a result, we can definitely hope that OnePlus has decided to start right up from the correct path.
A GSMArena report states that the company will launch its new version of Oxygen OS along with OnePlus Two, which is now being considered as the successor to OnePlus One. Reports indicate that this Oxygen OS will be based on the version of Android Lollipop 5.1.
However, even before the release of the new ROM, the company has promised that it will offer a final build for the OnePlus One. The report further indicates that OnePlus Two is supposed to be released at Q3 which will probably take place during the IFA season. Similar to its predecessor, the device will be priced around the $400 mark.
Meanwhile, Taiwan’s Asus recently launched the Asus Zenfone 2 and it has been attracting a lot of attention in the market lately. Phones review indicates that this device with a 4GB RAM is quite popular and is seemingly receiving the same attention as OnePlus One received last year.
Carl Pei, the OnePlus One co-founder revealed to PC World that another smartphone will be released, called the OnePlus Two. He further confirmed that it will be revealed sometime in the third quarter of this year.
He revealed that internally, they have already changed the release window around four or five times but they plan to make it available in Q2 or Q3. Pei stated that currently the face a lot more expectations, especially after the success of OnePlus One and with that a lot of pressure as well.
Crossmap reports that rumored specifications of the OnePlus Two include a 5.5 inch display with 2560x1440p screen resolution. The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, equipped with 4GB of RAM and also expandable to 64GB using a microSD card.
Further suggestions indicate that it will include a 16MP back camera along with a 5-megapixel front snapper. The rear lens will come with LED Flash and 4k Video recording capability and the front camera will include a wide angle lens.
