Blade Runner 2: Harrison Ford Set To Return with Ryan Gosling, Ridley Scott Brought on Board, One on One with Scott on His Next Movie, And More

Blade Runner 2 is already gathering up a lot of excitement. It is believed that the film is under pre-production and will see Harrison Ford reprise his character Rick Deckard. There are rumors that Ryan Gosling is also going to be a part of the film. Denis Villeneuve is said to direct Blade Runner 2.

Cheat Sheet has reported that the sequel to the cult movie Blade Runner is being worked upon. The filming for the second instalment of the dystopian 1982 film is supposed to begin at the end of this year.

In the original Blade Runner, Harrison Ford was the protagonist, however, it is believed that for the upcoming Blade Runner 2 he is going to be back only for a cameo and Ryan Gosling will enjoy the meatier role.

Blade Runner was made by noted film-maker Ridley Scott, but the actor will not be returning for the next film. The helm of Blade Runner 2 will be taken up by Denis Villeneuve, who director Sicario.

According to Slash Film, Ryan Gosling has been negotiating for his role in Blade Runner 2. The film for the upcoming film is believed to take off many years after the plot of the earlier part. Even though Ridley Scott will not be returning to sit on the director’s chair, he will be part of Blade Runner 2 in the role of a producer.

Balde Runner 2 is going to be scripted by the writer of the earlier film, Hampton Fancher, along with Michael Green who wrote the script for Green Lantern. Given the film is in the pre-production stage, it is likely that the film will released sometime in 2017 or 2018.

NME quoted Harrison Ford saying that he has been curious about knowing if there was an opportunity to continue working on a new script for Blade Runner. He said that he is keen on working on the film and with Ridley Scott if he finds the script interesting.

Harrison Ford expressed desire to work with Ridley Scott who he thought is a great film-maker and he would surely want to go back to reprise the iconic role under him for Blade Runner 2. It appears that Blade Runner 2 has been in the works for a while now.

Cinematographer Roger Deakins of A Beautiful Mind, Shawshank Redemption and Dead Man Walking fame is believed to have joined Villeneuve for filming Blade Runner 2. Deakins hasn’t been associated with many sci-fi films. He has previously only worked on two, namely, Nineteen Eighty-Four and In Time and fans are keen on seeing how he interprets Blade Runner 2.

Blade Runner 2 is believed to be the adaptation of the popular novel titled Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick. It is also a dystopian novel and is going to be in the same genre as the first film. The first film had grossed nearly $33 million and it is hoped that the instalment can match up to its reputation.

Villeneuve and Deakins have previously collaborated in Prisoner and Sicario. Blade Runner 2 is their third outing together and given the kind of magic they have created in the previous film, it is hoped that they will work on the same charm this time round as well.

Blade Runner had a lot of violence, but they were depicted in a humane manner such that they did not turn out to be gory or disgusting. Villeneuve said that Blade Runner 2 will continue in the same line and will present things in a mature manner.
