Jay-Z’s exclusive streaming service Tidal has released its first official video. It features Beyoncé crooning her anniversary gift for her beloved husband. ‘Die With You’ is a raw ballad that features Beyoncé playing the piano and singing along.
The release of the song coincided with the couple’s seventh anniversary and fans presumed that this was Mrs. Carter’s gift for the special occasion. Through the song, Beyoncé talks about her devotion to life and love. She sings how she wakes up every morning to be able to love Jay-Z. The song touches just the right cord with its raw, unedited touch.
The music video features Beyoncé wearing a cap and pigtails, dressed casually like she would at home, playing the piano and singing. The whole video is taped with a hand-held camera and is filmed by Jay-Z himself. The fact that Jay-Z has loved the song sung by his wife on the special occasion is evident in the smile on his face at the end of the video.
The video, which released on the 4th of April, was supposed to be exclusive content, but like anything on the internet it’s a matter of time before it stops being so. The video was supposed to be exclusive Tidal content, similar to what Jay-Z had promised fans when they launched the music streaming portal. The song “Die With You” was made for a special occasion and was the first music video released on Tidal, which Beyoncé and Jay-Z co-own with Madonna, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Cold Play, Daft Punk, Calvin Harris, Jack White, Arcade Fire, Usher and Deadmau5.
Fans are happy to get access to such a personal video of the song, but some feel that this was a publicity stunt to make Tidal a favourite. Tidal promises to give the users closer access to their favourite artists and this song is seen as a sort of advertisement. Fans are, however, not complaining since this just tells them of the kind of videos and live demos they can expect from the service in the near future.
