The Amazing Benefits of Olives and of Olive Oil

Everyone knows that olives are one of the most beneficial fruits that is really healthy for us. So, how many of the benefits do you know about? While I was researching for the benefits, I have been surprised to find out that there are so many benefits that I wasn’t aware of.

Let’s check out some of the benefits.

 

Protects the heart

It is said olive oils are good for the heart. Also, it is found in some studies that olives can help lower the high blood pressure by slowing down the process of plaque forming in heart’s arteries. It also reduces harmful cholesterol and increases the good cholesterol in blood.

 

Inflammation

Both olives and olive oil contain monounsaturated fatty acid, oleic acid which helps reduce inflammation.

 

Memory

Olives contains natural chemicals which helps boost memory.

 

Skin and hair

Yes, particularly black olives can nourish, hydrate and of course protect your skin because it contains antioxidants, fatty acid.  It also contains Vitamin E which decreases the chance of having skin cancer as it protects the skin from ultraviolet radiation.

You can also condition your hair by mixing olive oil and an egg yolk for some minutes and then rinse your hair. Also, from my own experience, I have realized that massaging your scalp with olive hair oil can reduce and prevent dandruff.

 

Contains Iron

Especially black olives contain a lot of iron which is important for our red blood cell as iron helps the cells to provide oxygen throughout our body. It is also required for our immune system to work well.

 

Now that we know some of the benefits of olives and olive oils, make sure make to eat olives. But of course do not over eat as we all know eating too much of almost anything is not good for health.

  • Olive trees can live up to more than 300 to 600 years and the oldest olive tree is about 4,000 years old that still produces olive to this day.
