Sherlock Season 4 Not Releasing Until January 2017, Tom Hiddleston Could Play another Sibling in the Sherlock Family, And More!

There are some things in life that you can patiently wait for and one of them is Sherlock Season 4. At the moment, we do have the Christmas Special ‘The Abominable Bride’ that should quench our Sherlock thirst for the time being. That being said, most of our deductive skills are working overtime while trying to find out what we can about the upcoming fourth season.

There are loads of speculations involving Sherlock Season 4 plot spoilers or rumors regarding the returning cast members. Right now, we are ready to take any type of information we need our beloved detectives.

However, it is sometimes difficult to keep track of all the rumors and speculations that surface on the internet from various kinds of sources. Keep in mind that no matter how many details you are aware of, additional pieces of information will continue to leak throughout the coming year.

Thankfully, taking a look at all the information provided in this article, you can get an idea regarding what to expect in the upcoming fourth season. We all know that Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will be returning but you can also expect to see Amanda Abbington as Mary Watson, Jonathan Aris as Anderson and Louise Brealey as Molly Hopper.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Steven Moffat talked about how Season 4 will be a different from what Sherlock fans have experienced in the past. According to him, Season 4 will deal with a lot of consequences. There will be a sense of things coming back to bite you while it will definitely be fun watching Sherlock Holmes romp about in his usual ways.

At the same time, it will be dark in certain ways as well. As always, it will be hilarious, exciting and exhilarating but at the same time, things will be quite frightening on certain occasions. Moffat tantalizingly added that watching season 4; fans will be pretty desperate for a season 5. Fans always crave more Sherlock so this isn’t really a surprise.

Mark Gatiss tweeted an image of Jabez Wilson’s pawnshop, earlier in February and it came with a text that read, “We Gingers must stick together…#Sherlock.” Jabez Wilson is a character that was introduced in Arthur Conan Doyle’s story, named ‘The Red Headed League’. Therefore, it’s not too hard to predict that it will be the main focus of the season.

Rumors suggest that filming should begin in April. Meanwhile, Moffat revealed during the Sherlock Panel at Comic-Con 2013 that Moriarty, the ultimate nemesis of Sherlock is really dead. He shot himself in the face and that’s that.

There is nothing more to look forward with this character. However, considering the epic Season 3 cliffhanger, the makers might simply be ‘Jon-snowing’ us. A lot of people were expecting a Doctor Who crossover.

Sadly, their dreams were crushed earlier this month when Gatiss declared to Entertainment Weekly that the only chance of a crossover would be over his dead body! Therefore, it’s safe to assume there will be Doctor Who crossover.

When Freeman spoke with UK Telegraph last year, he hinted that Mary’s fate on the show could end up taking a grim turn, similar to what happens in the books.

Freeman revealed, “While we play fast and loose with the original stories, we generally follow the trajectory of what Conan Doyle did. So he [Watson] gets married, and then Mary dies – so at some point presumably she’ll die.” Mary fans! Brace yourselves! We recommend Sherlock fans to start playing the waiting game as Season 4 is not expected to Air until January 2017.
