Transformers 5: Mark Wahlberg Confirms His Role, Michael Bay to Return as Director, And More

Edward Ryan, the SVP of Paramount Pictures International had announced at the CineEurope conference of 2014 that Transformers 5 will be out in 2016. However, Christian Today has reported that at the way the production is progressing, the film is not going to be out before 2017.

The last film from the Transformers franchise, Transformers: Age of Extinction became the highest grossing film in the 2014. Even though the film didn’t well with the critics, it is one of the highest earning films from Paramount Studios.

Given the success that the films of the franchise have enjoyed, the fans are hopeful that Paramount Pictures will bring out the next instalment soon enough. There hasn’t been any official confirmation about the film, but with the days of the release nearing, more and more scoop and rumors are circulating about Transformers 5.

There are no official announcements about the cast of Transformers 5, but Mark Wahlberg, who starred in Transformers: Age of Extinction confirmed in an interview with MTV that he is set to appear in the next film from the franchise.

MoviePilot had confirmed that Megan Fox is interested in returning to Transformers 5, but she had said that she will be back only if Shia LeBeouf joins in the film. Megan Fox was a part of Transformer, but she was removed from the franchise after she had an issue with the director, Michael Bay.

However, it looks like things between Michael Bay and Megan Fox are good again, now that he had starred her in his recent directorial venture Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Megan was spotted performing action sequence for the movie in New York.

Transformers 5 has had its own share of controversies and rumors even though the pre-production work hasn’t started as of now. It was heard earlier this year that Michael Bay has been replaced by Paramount Pictures and Jonathan Liebesman would be sitting on the director’s chair in his place.

Fans of Transformer were a little sceptical about this change in director, but the latest rumor is that Michael Bay is going to be back on the director’s chair. He is busy shooting 13 Hours, which is a war movie and it looks like Paramount Pictures is well aware of the Midas touch that Michael Bay possesses.

Paramount Picture knows that it was Michael Bay who made all the Transformers films a grand success and they are ready to wait for the ace director to be done with his current shooting schedule for him to start with Transformers 5.

There is a lot of speculations about the supposed plot for the film. In Transformers: Age of Extinction Optimus Prime was shown leaving for space to meet the Quintessons. The Quintessons are the creators of the Transformers and Optimus Prime wanted some answers about their plan to invade earth.

Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura had informed that Transformers 5 will be set on Earth. This plan is supposedly scrapped and the team of writers are currently working in the writers’ room to come up with a new plot for Transformers 5.

Fans of Transformers 5 have a lot of hope from the upcoming film since there are world renowned writers like Robert Kirkman and Akiva Goldsman. It is believed that the writers are planning something in the line of Star Wars, which hints that the film be based largely in space.

Optimus Prime will be helped by a few other Autobots in his fight against the Quintessons and Decepticons. Design and Trend has reported that Ultra Magnus, who is very popular with the fans will be shown to share a long history with villain Megatron, also known as Galvatron.
