5SOS admitted that their lives changed forever when they supported One Direction Tour for the first time in their lives. During One Direction’s 2013 Take Me Home arena tour, 5SOS opened for Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik.
While they traveled the world with the X Factor stars, they started to discover fame in their own right, bit by bit. Usually, we don’t see support acts getting too famous by themselves, or get too successful and build up a staggering fan base all by their own. However, it seems like ‘5 Seconds of Summer’ grabbed the opportunity and turned it into something priceless for themselves.
Luke Hemmings admitted to Rolling Stone Magazine that they were really surprised while noticing fans arriving in 5SOS merchandise instead of One Direction shirts. It was then he knew that the tides were changing.
According to him, there was a time when more and more people started getting attracted to 5SOS as a solo band and got more into their performance after noticing them. It was rewarding to see it pay off when they noticed how fans came out to see them as well as One Direction while doing their first tour and then moving onto the second one.
Luke further added that during all those touring, he saw it happen. They started noticing people wearing their shirts to the show and then singing their songs, even though in reality the show didn’t even belong to them. Luke Hemmings considers this to be a cool moment. According to him the process was quite progressive and all of it didn’t happen at the same time.
5SOS also supported One Direction during their Where We Are stadium tour that took place last year. Happily enough, in 2015, the ‘5 Seconds of Summer’ band members have their own stuff going on and right now they are in the middle of the European leg of their ‘Rock Out With Your Socks Out’ Arena Tour. This week, 5SOS has already played in Glasgow and Belfast.
In the meantime, the 5 Seconds of Summer boys have really gone all out in impressing their Scottish fans and last night they performed in traditional Scottish dress for their huge audience. During their latest stop of Rock Out With Your Socks Out European tour, they took to the stage in Glasgow, wearing some sexy kilts and churning out their set to a crowded arena.
The sight of the band members in Blue skirts sent the whole crowd into a mad frenzy. Later, the band’s social media team shared a photo of the boys in all their Scottish Glory and with a caption saying, ““So yep. this happened. thank you Glasgow!!!!! #kilts4lyf #breezy #commando.”
