Korean Star Lee Joon-Gi Will Play Umbrella Corporation’s Commander Lee in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Movie Will Release On September 2016, And More

The upcoming Resident Evil movie, Resident Evil 6 will be named ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’. If there’s a spin-off, expect a different story but till then, this name is here to stay. The filming of this movie has already begun in South Africa and it will be released by the end of 2016.

In the beginning, it was expected that Resident Evil 6 would be called Resident Evil: Rising but later it was changed to Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Therefore, it is clear that the 2016 movie will be the concluding movie of this franchise.

This franchise has made around $915,934,664, a few millions shy of a billion and it seems like the upcoming movie is totally poised to reach the $1 billion mark and serve as a final wrap for the franchise. The Executive Producer to the Resident Evil Movie Franchise, Paul W.S Anderson, revealed in this interview with Collider that ‘The Final Chapter’ is the working title for this movie.

In the beginning, it was believed that Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will be released in 2014 but that didn’t happen, so the upcoming movie is scheduled to release sometime in 2016. Therefore, rest assured that you won’t be seeing this movie anytime this year.

In case you don’t know it already, Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S Anderson is a married couple so Anderson probably wants his wife to rest from the franchise and this could be the last project where we see the couple working together. From all the various reports, it seems like Anderson has made up his mind.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will be released on 2nd September 2016 and from all the time that has been dedicated to this project; we should be expecting a pretty epic movie in 2016.

According to the synopsis provided in IMDB, Project Alice is forced to race against time, after the events of Resident Evil: Retribution while the villainous Red Queen attempts to destroy the humanity’s final remnants.

In the meantime, Milla Jovovich decided to tease fans on Instagram with an on-set photo from the sixth movie in the Resident Evil franchise. In the photo, you can see Ali Larter and Eoin Macken in a post-apocalyptic setting in Cape Town, South Africa.

According to the caption provided by the 39-year old actress, the picture was taken during the night when Larter was being given directions by Director Paul W.S Anderson, before the camera started rolling. One of the photos uploaded on Instagram by Macken shows some of the cast members assembling on the set.

Ruby Rose, Larter, Milton Schorr, Jovovich and Fraser James were the actors who were spotted on the photograph. In the meantime, you can clearly see a foggy area featured in another photo. The photo was also taken from the same location with Jovovich’s photo.

In Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Jovovich will reprise her role as Alice, while being accompanied by old friends and fighting against undead hordes and new mutant monsters, in an epic battle to save humanity from the brink of destruction.

Other important characters in this film are Larter as Claire Redfield, Shawn Roberts as Albert Wesker, Iain Glen as Dr. Alexander Isaacs, William Levy as Christian, Rose as Abigail, and Macken as Doc, Japanese model Rola as Cobalt and James as Michael.

In the meantime, Lee Joon-gi, the in-demand Korean singer-actor has joined the cast of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, the sixth installment and the final movie in the Resident Evil franchise. He will play Commander Lee of the Umbrella Corporation. An Instagram selfie was posted by Milla Jovovich, with Lee beside her.
