Ford India is ready to launch the updated and the all new Ford Endeavour SUV on 20th January. Meanwhile, the next product to be launched is the highly iconic Mustang muscle car. Earlier, it was reported that the car would be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 which starts on 3rd February.
However, the launch date of the Mustang has been advanced by the latest developments. According to a report in Overdrive, Ford India decided to launch the Mustang on 28th this month. In the American Automobile brand, the Mustang belongs to the pony car class and comes with variants like sports-car like coupes with long hoods and short rear decks.
The only model in Ford line-up that does not use the logo is the Mustang. In this car, you can see a dedicated logo of the iconic horse. According to the company, it is quick, agile, sleek and compact. In 1964, the first generation Mustang was launched and presently, the car is in its sixth generation, last released in December 2013.
The sixth generation Mustang comes with a new independent rear system besides the highly matured design. The new Mustang is also the first version which arrives with a factory designed right-hand-drive export model to be sold in overseas market. The new Mustang will launch in three engine options via Ford India.
These include the lower capacity 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine developing 305bhp, the 3.7 V6 developing 300bhp, and the popular 5.0-litre V8 engine that generates 420bhp.There will also be a choice available for a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox for all the three engines. In terms of pricing, it should be around 50lakhs.
In other news, modern Mustangs have no problem, travelling through twisty roads or on track. Sadly, their forefathers weren’t designed for that particular purpose. How do you think a slightly modernized 1969 Mustang convertible will handle a California canyon road? According to Matt Farah in the recent OneTake video, it handles pretty well.
At the same time, he never really trusted the car while driving it. The Mustang in comes with a 302 cubic inch V8 that churns out 340 horsepower at the wheels, while being linked to a 4-speed manual and a 3.70 Positraction rear end.
Some of the suspension components where upgraded by the owner while front and rear disc brakes were installed. Considering its age, this particular Mustang handles pretty well. A classic Mustang with a grunty V8 is a different entity altogether but for those people used to driving modern cars; handling something like this will be a definite pain.
In other news, the 2015-2016 Ford Mustang is certainly a smashing success and it enjoyed sales numbers of 122+K during the first year which has proved to be the best for any American muscle car since 2007. During then, the Mustang managed to sell around 134K units. The Chevrolet Camaro hasn’t witnessed sales like that since the 1980s.
With the strong selling 2015, Mustang managed to reclaim the title as the bestselling sporty car in America. The Camaro will introduce a new generation model in 2016 but the Ford Motor Company isn’t going to sit back and wait for Chevrolet to make their move.
Meanwhile, the Mustang lineup is being improved slightly with every possible opportunity so that 2016 can be another strong sales year for the Mustang.
Meanwhile, the 2016 Mustang will have a really noticeable aspect with the high performance Shelby GT350 and GT350R models being readily available. The 2016 GT California Special offers a unique interior and exterior look for people who aren’t interested in a high-dollar, road-handling beast.
