Doom Enters Old-School Tradition with Beta Keys at Your Local GameStop, New Trailer Shows Playable Demons and Power-Ups!

There are special melee executions for both Baron of Hell and Prowler. Baron of Hell has a pretty sick move where he chews off the head of a player. Besides the demonic transformations, players will be able to pick up traditional FPS power-ups when playing the multiplayer of Doom.

Four of them will be available in the final game but only two were revealed by Bethesda in the new trailer: quad damage and invisibility. In the end of the video, we get to see the three immensely destructive power-up weapons which can be acquired by players during multiplayer. They include the chainsaw, the Gauss Cannon and of course, the BFG!

A major part of Doom’s strategy will involve getting hold of these weapons and use them to control various sections of the map, similar to many old shooters from where Doom draws inspiration from.

In the meantime, fans don’t have to wait till May in order to experience these power-ups. Fans will be able to try out DOOM‘s Team Deathmatch mode as well as the revamped King of the Hill mode called Warpath when Doom’s closed beta begins next weekend. It will be interesting to see how modern gamers respond to the old-school methods brought back in Doom.

Stay tuned of more updates on Doom!

  1. They claim pre-order isn’t required, but i had to throw down cash to get my code. Got home, booted up the PC, couldn’t find redemption information anywhere on Gamestop’s website. Went to the Doom Beta registration website, put in my code…..INVALID!. Last time i waste my time with this company.

  3. If you go to the Doom website it has platform specific instructions for installing the beta. Mine is for PS4 and is working fine. If you call your local GameStop I’m sure they’ll be able to walk you through the process. Don’t get frustrated and miss out.
