Avatar 2 and 3 Planned but the Lack of Necessary Advanced Technology is Causing Delays!

Sadly, that is not what happened and fans are keeping their fingers crossed for now. Reports suggest that Avatar 2 won’t be released in 2016 and instead it has been pushed back another year. The fans are quite frustrated about the delays but 20th Century Fox CEO, Jim Gianopulos admitted in an interview that James Cameron does things at his own pace.

It was further revealed that the studio is in full support of the director and acknowledges every reason behind the said delay. The CEO further confirmed the fact that these setbacks are not due to the lack of budget or the absence of scripts.

As mentioned before, it is due to the lack of advanced technology. Gianopulos personally saw the scope of what Cameron intends to do and described it as…”the most amazing, breathtaking thing you’ve ever seen.” He if further aware of the fact that as soon as the director gets the necessary technology, Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 won’t be far off.

  1. I think this is bogus.

“On surprising note, the director admitted that the present state of technology isn’t good enough for what he wishes to do with this film and therein lays the main problem.”

Just my own personal opinion on the matter, but if they can make CGI movies, commercials, TV series, and trailers of upcoming DLC add-ons to video games (World of Warcraft for instance) look so good that you can’t tell whether it’s real life or CGI…even with motion capture added in…then I don’t know what the hold up is. Fans have been waiting for these movies since the first one came out in 2009. We’ve been waiting 5 years for the next one that has been promised over and over again, yet never delivered. So many other movies have come in it’s place that have exceeded the boundaries and expectations of CGI work. Impressively as well! I don’t think that we will ever see Avatar 2 or 3. Also, when was the last time you saw Sam Worthington in a movie? The latest one I remember was Wrath of the Titans and that was 2012…3 years ago. Come on! If you are going to scrub the movies, at least be up front and honest about it instead of telling us that technology isn’t good enough yet, because that’s a load of bull. Technology, special effects, motion capture…. Speaking of motion capture, just look at Gollum from Lord of the Rings. They are even using motion capture in video games these days and you can’t even tell that half these people in video games these days are even fake characters. They move, look, and act so gracefully. And that’s video games! I’m sorry but I have given up waiting for an Avatar 2 to be made. They wrote the ending for the first one without any cliff hangers for a reason. They did have a deleted scene in the special features showing an unfinished piece with Neytiri pregnant with Jake’s baby. It never went in there because they’re pretty set on the fact that there WILL NOT be a second one. If it took them 5 years to even come up with a script for the second one, how in the world are they going to get people to stick around for a third or fourth that James Cameron is talking about? By the time this movie is done with, I’ll be old, bald, and probably in a nursing home. I guarantee you that there will be NO Avatar 2. Or 3. Or 4. That’s my two cents on the subject.

  3. I completely disagree with Larry. Unless he has some insider information that the rest of us do not, he has no idea what James Cameron is planning or what his expectations are for the next Avatar films. As far as motion capture and CGI goes, there is a indisputable difference between generating human-like characters walking around on land and creating an vibrant, realistic undersea ecosystem as described in the article. I for one say: “James, take your time and deliver us a masterpiece.”
