Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Being Rolled Out for a Host of Smartphones Across Various Manufacturers!

Android 6.0 Marshmallow was rolled out by Google in the previous year and since then several smartphone companies have been rolling out the brand new OS for their devices. The latest reports indicate that the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge on Verizon is receiving the latest OS update.

The new update comes with the build number of MMB29M.N915VVRU2CPD1. Along with the brand new OS, the update also includes some new features for the Note Edge.

Some of the bonus features that the update brings forth alongside the Marshmallow OS includes- Wi-Fi calling, Ultra-High-Quality Audio and Android for Work. Some new app icons and folder designs will also be incorporated into the device via the update.

That apart, some bug fixes and performance enhancements are also included in the update. As for the Ultra-High-Quality Audio feature, it will work towards enhancing the sound quality of any type of audio file. After the update, the quality of audio produced by the device will be quite near to the quality of Audiophile level.

That apart, the standard Marshmallow features like Google Now on Tap and Doze Mode will also be included in the update. The Doze Mode is a battery saving mode that puts the device in a deep sleep. All background activity will be stopped by this mode and thus it will work towards increasing the battery life of the device.

Users of the Verizon Galaxy Note Edge should be receiving a Software update notification by now. However, if the update notification has not arrived as of yet, users will be able to manually check out whether their device is ready to receive the update.

To do so they will have to head over to Settings>About phone>Software updates. If the device is ready for the update, it will show the message update available for download. Users will have to download the update and install it after the download is complete. It will come with a significant size and thus users are recommended to download it over a Wi-Fi network.

It has been reported that the Idol 3 smartphone from the house of Alcatel is also receiving the Marshmallow update. However, this device is receiving the slightly upgraded version of Marshmallow, that is Android 6.0.1.

The news was announced by the company through its official Twitter handle. Users who own an unlocked Alcatel Idol 3 in US will be the first ones to receive the update. However, it is still not clear whether the update will be released for both the models of the device, that is the 5.5-inch one and the 4.7-inch one.

Some users of the device have already installed the device and they are of the opinion that the device functions smoother after installing the update. The standard Marshmallow features like Google Now On Tap and Doze Mode will be brought forth by the update.

That apart, some security patches for the month of June will also be included in the update. The device will be more battery efficient after the update is applied.

Another company that is currently rolling out the update is Asus. The device for which the update is being rolled out is the Asus Zenfone Max ZC550KL. The announcement came via the ZenTalk forum where it was stated by the company that the device is currently receiving the latest OS update.

Just in the recent past, the Marshmallow update was rolled out for the Zenfone 2 Laser. Now the users of the Zenfone Max ZC550KL are in for some treat as the update has started hitting this particular device. The version number on this particular update will be 13.8.26.31.

The update will remove some unnecessary apps from the phone which includes the likes of Asus Calendar, Asus Messaging and Asus Email. The app APP2SD will not be supported by the device after it is upgraded to Marshmallow.
